The Newborn Experience

Preparing for Your Newborn Studio Session

Your newborn session is designed to be calm, unhurried, and centered entirely on your baby’s comfort. These early days are tender and fleeting. This experience is meant to feel peaceful — a quiet space where we preserve the tiny details you never want to forget.

Timing Is Everything

Newborn sessions are ideally scheduled within the first 5–14 days after birth. During this window, babies are sleepier, naturally curl into those sweet womb-like positions, and settle more easily.

If your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, please don’t worry — we will adjust your date as needed.

Feeding & Sleeping

  • Follow Their Natural Rhythm: Let your baby sleep normally before your appointment—there is no need to keep them awake before arriving.

  • Top-Off Feeds: Feeding your baby right before you leave the house (or right as you arrive at the studio) helps them settle into a deep, cozy sleep.

  • No Rush Policy: We will follow your baby’s cues and pause whenever they need to eat, burp, cuddle, or be soothed.

Dress Baby Simply

Please dress your baby in loose, easy-to-remove clothing. A zip or snap sleeper works perfectly. Avoid tight waistbands, socks, or hats that may leave marks on the skin.

Once you arrive, I’ll take care of the styling. I have a carefully curated collection of wraps, soft fabrics, and simple pieces chosen specifically for your baby, keeping the focus where it belongs—on your baby.

What to Wear

  • For Baby: Dress them in a loose, easy-to-remove zip or snap sleeper. Please avoid tight waistbands, socks, or hats that leave temporary marks on delicate skin.

  • For You: Studio sessions run 2–3 hours to allow for a slow, unhurried pace. The studio is kept extra warm for baby's comfort, so we recommend lightweight, breathable layers.

Once you arrive, I take care of the rest. I provide a carefully curated collection of wraps, soft fabrics, and simple styling pieces chosen specifically to keep the focus where it belongs—on your baby.

Trust the Process & Relax

Your baby’s safety and comfort are always my highest priority. Every pose and transition is done gently and intentionally, with close attention to their cues.

There is no expectation for perfection. Some babies sleep through their entire session, while others need a little more time, cuddling, or reassurance. It’s all completely normal. You are welcome to sit back, rest, scroll on your phone, or simply watch. Many parents tell me this becomes one of the first quiet moments they’ve had since bringing their baby home.
